Poljot-International Mech. Deck Watch P.Ch.53303G
Marine chronometers were already being manufactured in England in 1735. In
1761, trials runs were conducted with an improved model. It was well-known
Captain James Cook who supervised them. He wrote in his diary: “To my dear
friend – to our companion, the chronometer that never lets us down”.The high
accuracy of the chronometer, a maximum deviation of 0,1 s per 24 hours, not only
draws the interest of the technical buffs but may also intrigue «old sea
bears».
This instrument moves the experts. A precious, polished, rare wooden box
contains a heavy cabinet that is hung on cardanic brass springs. The movement
has a chronometer check and a heavy so-called Guillaume balance to ensure the
running accuracy of under 0,1 seconds per day.
